ELDER LAW ATTORNEYS: WHAT WE DO Elder law is a specialty that focuses on the needs of a specific type of client: seniors, people with disabilities, and their families. Some of our services are utilized by a broad spectrum of the community, such as estate planning and probate. Other services are needed almost exclusively by seniors, the disabled, and their families. Here are some examples of what we do: Wills for people all ages when they either (1) have young children or disabled adult children who need a guardian; or (2) have property that will need to be distributed after their death; Powers of attorney for medical and financial decisions to prevent a court supervised conservatorship and guardianship (like Terri Schiavo); Conservatorships and guardianships for minors or adults who cannot make their own decisions and are without powers of attorney; Assistance with Medicaid planning and assistance with Medicaid applications for assisted living and nursing home care; SSI and SSDI applications and appeals; Probate for the administration of a deceased person’s estate, with or without a will; formal, informal, or small estate; and Complex Probate Litigation including trust litigation, will contests, guardianships and conservatorships.
