Tips in handling your insurance claim:
Call your insurance agent. Let them know if there is any leaking. They may recommend temporary repairs to prevent further damage. Keep receipts for reimbursement. An admuster will be assigned to handle your claim. The adjuster will usually call to let you know they will be working with you through the project. Each policy is different, so discuss what your coverage is with your adjuster and find out exactly what portion of your roofing expense will be covered by your insurance policy.
Tips in choosing a roofing company:
Choose a company that has been in business in your area for at least five years. The roofing business is easy to get in and to get out of. Don't be one of the statistics who get burned by a company that will no longer be in business when you need warranty service. Non-legitimate companies can easily get a lot of business by offering low prices, kick-back money, rebates, etc. You want a roofing company that will be in business long after your roofing project is completed. Choose a company that has financial stability. Check with their bank to find out how long they have had an account at that bank. Check with their suppliers to make sure they pay their bills on time. The contractor who operates on thin margins could also be standing on thin ice. An efficient company is an effective one. Does the company have a computerized office, two-way radios, mobile phones, digital pagers? What trade organizations does the company hold memberships in? This can be a clue as to the credibility of the company.
